Lesson 6 - The Meaning of God’s Rest: Day Seven

Oct 19, 2025    Rick Carmickle

This week's class, The Meaning of God’s Rest: Day Seven, will explore Genesis 1–2 through the themes of Temple inauguration and the establishment of God’s Kingdom. We will explore the meaning of being created in God’s image and what that means for our place in God’s creation. And we will take an in-depth look at Day Seven with God at rest. The image here is not of God sitting down taking a nap, but of God assuming his place as the one who reigns in his cosmic Temple. These chapters reveal creation as God’s sacred dwelling—His cosmic temple—and the world as the arena of His reign. We will find our place in God’s story from creation through the fall and the future final restoration in Christ. As believers created in God’s image, our purpose is to serve as royal priests, reflecting God's glory and extending his rule.
