Elder Qualifications

LITTLETON BIBLE CHAPEL ELDER EVALUATION SURVEY

In evaluating a candidate for eldership you are participating in one of the most important activities affecting the life and future of our church. So please carefully and prayerfully fill out this character-evaluation survey.

CHOOSING SCRIPTURALLY QUALIFIED ELDERS

One of the qualifications for an elder is that he is able both “to exhort in sound doctrine and to refute those who contradict” (Titus 1:9). The public examination places a man being considered for eldership before the body so the congregation can ask questions pertaining to doctrine and give feedback on the Biblical qualifications; further evidence that God’s hand is upon him for this work.

QUALIFICATION DEMANDS EXAMINATION

The Biblical list of qualifications for elders are empty words if there is no required evaluation of the candidate's character. And that is precisely what Scripture instructs us to do in I Timothy 3:7: "he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil."

Josh Roach Survey

*This survey is a tool for helping our congregation evaluate the character requirements of a prospective elder according to the Biblical standards. This is not a popularity contest or election. No candidate will be refused office unless there are Scriptural objections.

*If you have any questions about the meaning of a particular qualification, see Chapter 12-15 (pages 131-166) of Biblical Eldership by Alexander Strauch for an explanation. Extra copies of this book are available for you to use in the church office.

*Please fill out the surveys linked above by October 18, 2026.

*Please email the Elders (elders@littletonbiblechapel.org) if you have any questions.
